New Perspectives on Life – How To Create Your Reality

In my previous post “New Perspectives on Life – The Nature of Reality” I shared that we create our own reality and I have an addendum to it…I said that I still haven’t fully stepped into my power as a creator and that I’m not sure why this is but it could be my skeptical side holding me back. Well, I’ve been ruminating on this and I have a few more thoughts about it. I think part of why I don’t buy in full force is because I’m lazy. Creating your reality can be a lot of work/energy (as you’ll see below). I also feel like I haven’t gone 100% in as a form of self sabotage. That I’m holding myself back from living my dream life because if I lived it I’d be opening myself up in ways that are scary and unpredictable. Ah, nothing like being your worst enemy. Sometimes a relief to realize and sometimes not.

And now that I’ve got that out of the way I’m going to get to the topic of this post about HOW we create our own reality. But before I dive into things I feel it’s important to acknowledge that life is messy and complex. Sometimes I’ve been successful at creating the life around me and sometimes not so much. Learning that you create your reality and how to actually do so is a personal journey and there isn’t one sure fire way to get the job done. There are so many different teachers and techniques so you have to find what works for you. The information out there can be overwhelming so I want to help distill some wisdom by sharing what has made a difference in my life over the years. Maybe you’ll be familiar with what I share and maybe not. Take what resonates and leave what doesn’t. I just want people to know how powerful they really can be and actually are.

The biggest influence when it comes to creating your own reality in my life has been Abraham Hicks. If you haven’t heard of them here’s the deal: Esther Hicks started to channel a non-physical consciousness called Abraham in the mid 80’s. She writes books and shares their wisdom in live workshops around the world. For years she toured with her husband, Jerry. He was a big part of their work and typically would ask questions during the workshops to which Abraham (through Esther) would provide the answer. Jerry passed a few years ago and Esther continues to work.

At the heart of their teaching is the Law of Attraction. The notion that people create their own reality through their attention and focus – through your thoughts. A good quote from Abraham that sums it up is:

“You create your own reality and you do so because the thoughts are thinking cause you to emanate a vibrational frequency that the Law of Attraction is constantly responding to”.

They teach that anything you can imagine is yours to be, do, or have. They talk a lot about Source (their take on God/the universe etc.) and how it wants the best for you. And that life is meant to be fun and easy.

If you have a hard time digesting Abraham and the fact that it’s channeled non-physical consciousness then you might also have a hard time wrapping your mind around the next person I find very inspiring. Darryl Anka channels a multidimensional being called Bashar. He’s been doing so for decades but I only discovered him this year during the quarantine.

Per the Bashar website, Bashar has brought through a wave of new information that clearly explains in detail how the universe works, and how each person creates the reality they experience. What really resonated with me was the following advice:

“Act on your highest excitement to the best of your ability with zero insistence on the outcome, trusting that your Higher Mind will manifest what you truly need. And then, whatever manifests, know that: that’s what serves you in the best possible way.”

The work of Bruce Lipton is yet another perspective I came across during the quarantine. I’ve known about him for a while but never really was drawn to him until recently.

An international leader that talks about both science and spirit, his work is fascinating. To put it REALLY simply, he shows how our thoughts affect our biology.

He says that our conscious thoughts can only go so far because our subconscious mind runs the show (at least 95% of the show). He says that we are programmed from birth until we are 7 years old and that the beliefs ingrained in us then still hold sway now. You have to do the work to see what your subconscious beliefs are and if they aren’t serving you then you can change them. And Bruce’s site has a great resource page with ways to do this but in essence you can do so by hypnosis, repetition, and practice.

I have referred to Joe in a few posts already (The Wonder Effect & The Cloud of Unknowing).

Per his website he’s an international lecturer, researcher, corporate consultant, author, and educator driven by the conviction that each of us has the potential for greatness and unlimited abilities. He has educated thousands of people showing them how they can rewire their brains and recondition their bodies to make lasting changes.

I attended a Dr. Joe workshop years ago but never really kept up his work. Not because I didn’t find it powerful. More so because it involves a diligent meditation practice that I couldn’t find room in my life for. But again, the quarantine gave me a lot of time to spend and I used it to get re-acquainted with Joe’s work.

Also, it’s worth noting that since I attended his workshop he’s since started to include scientists who perform extensive research during the workshops on the participants. They look at the effects of meditation, including epigenetic testing, brain mapping with electroencephalograms (EEGs), and individual energy field testing with a gas discharge visualization (GDV) machine. Cool stuff that has given him scientific proof and amazing validity for his work.

One of his meditations I’ve been doing lately involves me getting in to the correct brain state and then imagining the life of my dreams. The reason being that when you feel what it feels like to live your dream your body can’t tell you’re just imagining it as it can’t tell the difference between an actual or imagined event. As Joe puts it:

“When you’re truly focused on an intention or some future outcome, if you can make inner thought more real than the outer environment during the process, the brain won’t know the difference between the two. Then your body, as the unconscious mind, will begin to experience the new future event in the present moment. You’ll signal new genes, in new ways, to prepare for this imagined future event”.

The last person I’ll share with you is Cynthia Sue Larson. Again, a quarantine find although she too has been around for years. Per her website, Cynthia has a degree in physics and is the best-selling author of six books who helps people visualize and access whole new worlds of possibility. Her work includes findings in scientific research in the fields of quantum physics, quantum biology, the placebo effect, positive psychology, sociology, and alternative medicine.

This quote from her website sums up her work perfectly:

“The dawn of this new Quantum Age presents you with the radical new paradigm–that you are not your body or your situation, but instead are pure energy, pure consciousness. You exist in an interconnected holographic multiverse in which you are literally jumping from one parallel universe to another with every choice you make. Through such quantum jumps, in a moment you can become smarter… more confident… happier… more outgoing… more effective… in better relationships… with more willpower. You can gain practical tools to achieve real change in your life, and leap forward to become happier and more prosperous, living the life of your dreams.”

I found this really exciting because it means what you desire already exists and all you need to do is make a choice. Because otherwise I tend to worry that even though I know I can create my reality I worry that it might not happen. Or that somehow I’m not creating “right”. I know this uncertainty that I can create my reality is creating just that – uncertainty. I guess I have some subconscious beliefs I need to reprogram. Ahhh, the never ending process of personal development.

So there you have it. My highlight reel of “Create Your Reality” influencers and thought leaders that have made a big impact in my life.

And one more thing…It’s time more people realized that they create their own reality. That they have more power than they realize. Not only to change their lives but to also change the world. And it can’t happen fast enough in my opinion. The world as we knew it before COVID-19 is no more. There’s no going back to what was normal. We need to create a new normal and lots has to change.

Are you with me on this? If so, make sure you subscribe to my newsletter and join this community as we get down to transforming ourselves and the world we live in.

I’m so excited to see what’s possible!
